Baboo’s rescue in Pakistan marked the beginning of an extraordinary journey. Found unable to walk and suffering from multiple fractures caused by malnutrition, the young tiger received urgent veterinary treatment and underwent a long period of rehabilitation, during which he had to learn to walk again. He went on to make a full recovery and, in February 2024, was relocated to Isindile Big Cat & Predator Sanctuary in South Africa with the help of The Aspinall Foundation, We Wild Africa and the Islamabad Wildlife Management Board. After arriving at the park, Baboo was renamed Yehudah. Since then he has gone from strength to strength in his new home.

Playful, curious and full of energy, Yehudah quickly settled into life at Isindile, exploring his natural enclosure which he shared with another tiger, named Or, and immediately enjoying his new surroundings. Over the months that followed, he became known as one of the sanctuary’s most active big cats, always running, playing and keeping a watchful eye on the world around him. Whether stalking through the vegetation, splashing in his pool or observing his neighbours, his playful nature quickly became clear. His gentle nature has also become one of his defining characteristics, even in his earliest days at the sanctuary.

After the loss of his neighbour, Amber, at the end of 2024, staff opened access between her enclosure and Yehudah’s, allowing him to explore the space she once ruled. He soon made it his own and now spends much of his time there, often resting in her favourite spots and looking out across the sanctuary. From a cub once facing an uncertain future, Baboo (now Yehudah) has become a confident young tiger thriving in the safety of his forever home.
